Honey House Press LLC is accepting submissions for a horror and sci-fi anthology to be published in print. All stories submitted will be considered for The Ligeia Prize, named for the mysterious and powerful Edgar Allan Poe character. The novelist and poet Cassondra Windwalker will make final selections for the award. There will be one first place winner who will receive publication and a $100 award. The Press reserves the right to additionally award a second prize for publication and a $50 award. The anthology will be published in 2024 in print and as an e-book. It will be available to individuals and to shops with worldwide distribution.

What We Want

We want short stories, flash fiction, and artwork, including graphic short stories. We love complete stories, each with a strong beginning, middle, and ending, with both good pacing and literary merit.

There is no theme or specific topical focus. In short, if it is dark and / or speculative, we want to read it. There is a $3 submission fee payable via Venmo @honeyhousepress.

With your emailed submission, include a cover letter with the author’s name, contact information, and a synopsis of the work. This should be the only information included in your cover letter. Include the work itself with page numbers on every page, but no name.

Flash stories should be 1500 words and fewer. Short stories must be 2500 words or fewer. We ask for non-exclusive rights on these pieces so that we can publish them in the print anthology.

Submit as a PDF to the email info (a) honeyhousehive (dot) com. Please expect a response time of three months. We look forward to reading your work.

We are also accepting artwork. We are flexible regarding dimensions. Submit as a JPG to the email above. Include a cover letter with the title of the work, the artist’s name and contact information.
